The Department came into existence with the establishment of the college in 1942. The department has been offer in Courses for programmes like B.A, B.Com, B.Sc with various combinations for about 1100 students. At present there are seven faculty members are working in the department. The department is offering Certificate Courses and Foundation and Soft Skills in the CBCS system.
The department is offering some certificate courses and foundation course to enhance the communicative and soft skills among the student in the CBCS pattern. The department follows and impliments the student centerd methods through activities like group work paid work and colabrative work which promootes self and active learning
The department also confidence among the rural students through a varity of communicative activities..
The department also promotes curricular and extra-curricular activities and encourages students to participate in various competitions in and outside the college.
The department is planning to introduce more Elective Courses and a PG course in English Language and Literature.
To develop the communication skills and life skills of students as responsible and self – reliant individuals with better behavior and growth.
