The computer Science department in Govt. College for Women(A), Guntur was established in 1996. Since its inception, department is offering Maths-Physcis-Computer, B.A. Computers, & B.Com. Computers with intake of 30 students for each course and Matha-Stat-Computer with an intake of 45 students. Certificate Course in “Fundamentals and MS-Office” was started in 2002 for 40 days for all interested students studying either B.A./B.Com/B.Sc., in this college. Later in 2008 intake of B.Com., Computers is raised to 60. Department offered UGC Sponsored Add on Course in DTP from 2008. It includes “Certificate Courses in DTP” with 300 hours in first year, “Diploma in DTP” with 300 hours in second year, and “Advanced Diploma in DTP” with 300 hours in final year. Other Certificate Courses like “MS-Office”, “Web Designing” with 30 hours each used to run paralley. An other Add on Course in “Photoshop and Web designing” was sanctioned by UGC in 2013. With permission from the Commissioner of Collegiate Education, Computer Science Department started offering New Courses Maths-Electronics-Computers, Maths-Stat-Multimedia from 2015-2016. Later in 2017-2018 Maths-Stat-Multimedia Course has been transformed into Maths-Computers-Multimedia. Also a new course in Maths-Comptuers-Cloud Computing is started from 2017-2018 to enhance employability opportunities of the students. Computer Science Department in Collaboration with Commerce Department is offering Certificate Course on “Tally” from 2015-2016. Department is conducting many Workshops such as Robotics, App Development and Work from Home to ignite technical temper in student community. Department provided recorded Audio lessons to blind student s as an extension activity. Department has highly qualified and dedicated faculty, well equipped Computer Labs and Department Library.
