In view of the increased perception of biological sciences towards Industrialization and health education, the Nagarjuna University has introduced Microbiology subject in under graduate level in Degree colleges. The subject was introduced as restructured B.Sc course in combination with botany and chemistry as Mi.B.C and Biochemistry and chemistry as Mi.Bi.C
• Department was established in the year 1998.
• Microbiology was started in combination with - Microbiology-Botany-chemistry and Microbiology- Biochemistry -Chemistry
• Department was started with two staff members.
• At present the combinations are – Microbiology-Botany-chemistry and Microbiology-zoology-Chemistry.
CHANGES AND DEVELOPMENT AFTER PREVIOUS ACCREDITATION
The College was Accredited for the first time with NAAC ‘B’ grade in the year 2006.
The College was Re-accredited with NAAC ‘A’ grade in the year 2011.
Autonomy was introduced in the college in the year 2014.
Curriculum was enriched by introducing CBCS pattern in the year 2016.

Department of Microbiology strives to promote the analytical knowledge of the student in accordance with the demands of the present world and bridge the gap between the industries and the education that will equip the student and develop the character and personality of the student making them complete in integrity and morality.
To develop research and communication strategies to fill gaps in knowledge and to effectively apply scientific knowledge to early education policy.
To educate and prepare competent, compassionate and ethical professionals from demographically diverse backgrounds through student centered programmes that offer robust syllabus to meet the future scientific needs of the region and nation at large
