Biography

Mrs. D. Uma Nischal currently working as a Botany Lecturer at Government College for Women (A) in Guntur, was recruited through Direct recruitment by the Andhra Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC) in the year 2012.

D.Uma has obtained her M.Sc., and M.Phil., from Acharya Nagarjuna University, Guntur. She has M.Ed., Degree to her credit from A.L College of Education, Guntur and she is perusing Ph.D. at Department of Botany and Microbiology, Acharya Nagarjuna University, Guntur.

She is the convenor of Lady Hope Alumni Association and member of Student Union at GCW(A), Guntur, besides her teaching Assignment. She has a teaching Experience of 15 years teaching Botany at undergraduate Level. She is highly enthusiastic in sharing her experience and expertise to cater diverse needs of students and is interested in promoting involved, experiential, and innovative and creative learning practices to enrich the students to remain successful in the competitive world.

She is actively involved in promoting Plantation programmes, Community services Programmes, Green audit programmes and in designing certificate courses in Plant Nursery to promote entrepreneurship skills amongst the students. She is remained instrumental in conducting various curricular and extracurricular actives at the college level. She is investigating topics such as Phytochemical screening, antioxidant activity of medicinal Plants and DNA Sequencing. Outside of academics enjoys Gardening, Landscaping, and Terrace Gardening.
